Site Policy

People engaging with the WSF cover a broad political spectrum and come from a wide range of backgrounds and all subscribe to the WSF Charter of Principles.

This web site (http://www.wsf2008.net) is committed to providing a space for all people engaged with the Forum to connect with each other.

We encourage public discussion of political issues, and recognize the important cultural and political value of dissenting voices engaged in dialog. We also recognize the detrimental effects of personal attacks and unsubstantive vitriol.

The tech team for this site moderates comments only to keep these pages free of spam and other commercial content. We also choose to cancel publication for posts which are personal attacks, posts which endanger community discussion itself, or posts which threaten the ability of the site to function.

When making a difficult moderation decision based on the above criteria, non-anonymous comments will be given more priority for publication than anonymous comments, since personal responsibility is more likely to build community.

We recognize that there are gray areas in this definition, and try our best to take a rational approach in good faith to such moderation. We request that people using this site share such an attitude to content moderation. If you have problems with some instances of content moderation (or think that this policy should be amended), please communicate with the ICT directly or join us and help make this site (and the forum) better.

We understand Free Speech as a relationship between an individual and the Government, that does not extend to allowing anyone to use this site for purposes counter to the mission of the Social Forum, as stated in the WSF Charter of Principles.
